Located in the School of Political and Social Inquiry, Communications and
Media
Studies is one of the flagship programs in the Faculty of Arts. It is
rapidly growing
with over 700 enrolments at first year and more than 500 at second
and third years.
The section is seeking to build its profile and reputation as a
strong research and
teaching program in the Communications field. Areas currently taught
include new
media, cyberstudies and the changing face of traditional media and
the relationship
between media narratives, culture and power, but the new appointments will
be
encouraged to develop new areas of teaching and research at Monash.

Associate Professor (Level D) in
Communications and Media Studies

Applicants are invited for this professorial appointment in Communications
and Media Studies. The successful applicant for this position will be
required to
provide academic and administrative leadership for the section,
within the school,
faculty and the university. Applicants should possess an
international reputation
in the field, with an outstanding research grant and publication record.
Demonstrated expertise in the supervision and development of postgraduate
students is essential.

Salary range: $80,925 - $89,153/$104,242 pa (Level D/Level E)

substantial progress towards a doctorate, a record of effective
coordination and
teaching in Communications or a related field. The ability to publish
in a relevant
area or areas, and to supervise honours and postgraduate research students
is desirable.

Salary range: $38,406 - $52,121 pa Level A
