Alison, Messianic Destiny qua Poet is definitely something to be avoided,
I've discovered this lately myself, to my cost. The word Messiah is
interesting, it's usually taken as meaning either the Anointed or The One In
Waiting but my latest interpretation of it is The One Who Will Get
Clobbered!

Hi Trevor
I actually drafted a note to Lawrence to say that I wasn't Octavio Paz, and
that my quoting him on that subject didn't mean that I was necessarily in
agreement with him. I was just as it were tossing it into the argument.
But it seemed trivial, so I didn't send it.
For the record, Paz was discussing sacred texts of various kinds, including
Tantric texts, and saying that they were inherently poetic for reasons that
I would need to read the book again to restate properly. Be sure, however,
that he wasn't referring to Hallmark, and I'm also sure that he would reject
the kinds of writing you are referring to as neither sacred nor poetic.

Ah, now you are suggesting that I should reveal my True Messianic Destiny
qua Poet. But I'm in enough trouble.
