Bloodaxe Books has dumped the remaining quantities of the two books by
Douglas Oliver which they published, Penniless Politics (1994) and A Salvo
for Africa (2000!) and I have taken quite a large pile of each.
In the first instance I'm offering them for sale at one pound each. Inland
postage will be another pound per book. Both price and postage will be
reduced for quantity.
This is a chance to get, if you haven't already, and for almost nothing,
two original and serious works of political poetry, concerned respectively
with the U.S.A.'s political structure and its people, and the condition of
African states in the developing global economy. Both are concerned with
the outsiders, the uncounted, those outside the equation [which since 2000
increasingly looks like all of us].
The designation "political poetry" (Doug himself used the term "satirical")
doesn't exclude many of the poems from being most of the things poems are
expected to be, personal, emotive, innovative, poetical, etc.
This opportunity might be particularly useful to teachers at school or
college who may be able to use copies with their students.
