I tried USAmericans, for USA citizens for a while. Not because USAmericans
mind Americans, but I thought it a small move towards this whole problem -
similar in some ways that "semitic" is now not colloquially understood to
include arabs.
But it's v difficult! and I have kind of given it up, not least because the
common usage is so deeply ingrained
