Dear Chris
thanks for your response.
There is a plethora of digital image initiatives in support of education which I wrote about in an article for the Art Libraries Journal
http://www.arlis.org.uk/publ/alj/vol29no1.html
I also designed a Study Day at the Royal College of Art based on the issues I highlighted in the ALJ
http://www.arlis.org.uk/even/SlideLibrariesDigitalFuture.html
What I have failed to find(!!) is any significant use being made of these digital images (as yet) in Art Schools within UK HEI's especially under the guiding hand of librarians who might be expected to manage access to these multitudinous collections of images in a similar way (centralised single access point)that they offer at present via the slide library. We want to re-run the Study Day (it was heavily oversubscribed)and I am seeking a speaker who has trodden this new path. There are such initiatives in the US but here?

I would very much like to hear from anyone (Librarian/lecturer or T&L staff)
who has been involved in creating/designing Art and Design VLE modules
which use significant amounts of digital images.
There has been much excitement in the Slide Library community about the move
away from slides and towards digital images. Copyright issues have severely
restricted what slide librarians can offer in digital form but there are
large subscription based collections of digital images (SCRAN, AMICO etal)
and copyright cleared images avaialble through such as AHDS (Visual
Arts)which can be used. many thanks Jenny Godfrey
