Grid Computing for Particle Physics – Events Officer
GridPP is a collaboration of 20 UK research institutes and CERN, the
European particle physics lab in Geneva. We are building a UK computing
Grid for particle physics, as part of a large international project. We
are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person with an interest in
science communication to manage our events programme. The successful
applicant will arrange meetings, manage the GridPP stand at conferences,
work with schools and produce publicity materials. This is an exciting
opportunity to work in a collaboration developing cutting-edge IT to
solve problems in fundamental physics.
The post would normally be based at Queen Mary, University of London,
but there may potential to work from one of the other 19 collaborating
universities or Rutherford Appleton Lab. It will involve extensive
travel within the UK and occasional travel to CERN and elsewhere as
required.
This is a two-year contract. The salary will be £18,205 – 20,671 per
annum, although for a more experienced applicant part-time working may
be considered at the same salary. For further details or to discuss the
