Heriot-Watt is holding a series of events in association with its successful
ROBOTS exhibition.
This week's talk, 'Robots in science fiction', is from author Ken MacLeod
Ken, whose books include The Star Fraction and The Cassini Division, will
examine how robots have appeared in science fiction: from rebellious slaves,
and faithful servants to allies or enemies equal to or superior to
ourselves. Ken will look back to Frankensteins monster, and forward to
Gibson's Neuromancer and beyond.

ROBOT is an exciting, interactive exhibition produced with Heriot-Watt
University and Falkirk Council. It is running throughout the summer at
Callendar House in Falkirk. To support the exhibition Heriot-Watt has
organised a series of lectures from a variety of experts in the subjects of
science fiction, robotics, engineering and technology.
Visitors will also get a chance to view the ROBOT exhibition before and
after the lecture.
Hope to see some of you there.
Regards,
Tony Weir
