Hi
I was asked to consider this in my old role. I discussed with HR and we came
to the conclusion that we shouldn't do anything health assessment wise as
continuing employment should be offered on the basis of capability and
performance and just because someone has reached 65 does not mean this
suddenly changes. Health assessment would take place where risk assessment
or legislation dictated but only in the same way as any other job at any
other age.
You ought to consider upcoming legislation that means you could be
discriminating on the grounds of age. I don't think this is strictly
illegal now but it might be soon.
Thanks
