Greetings
I wonder if anyone has used on-line and, or distance learning
approaches to promote understanding and awareness of legal, clinical or
cultural aspects of health issues and health service provision for
ethnic minorities in their organisation.
I have been asked by the postgraduate deanery (overseeing specialist
training for doctors) covering London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex if there
might be anything suitable that could be developed for a medical
audience as part of their specialist training and continuing
professional development. Obviously a distance learning approach only
scratches the surface however given the large number of doctors involved
and the impracticality of running enough seminars (often expensive and
of questionable quality) to cover the numbers they wish to investigate
other routes and hopefully have a go at evaluating and validating
something like this to begin with.
It sounds like quite a constructive approach and could lead to
something being included in skills and competencies etc.
Any leads warmly received
thanks
Sarah
ps. Following my earlier request for the London PH Network Day I had
one person from the e-group come back to me saying she had done a race
equality impact assessment. It was an excellent example of a piece of
work done on the local meals on wheels service in Bedfordshire which had
led to service improvement. If you are interested in more details I
will pass your names on to her - or she may wish to identify herself!
Following that day I also have a cribsheet for people still flummoxed
by the terminology and what to do - happy to people on request.
