Dear MEH members,
This is to let you know about the volunteering, asylum and environment
seminar taking place in London on 8 December, 11am-4pm. This is a unique
opportunity for anyone wanting to promote volunteering by refugees and
asylum seekers to meet representatives of a wide range of environmental
agencies, including London Parks, Royal Parks, the Forestry Commission, the
Wildlife Trust, the Ramblers and others.
Environment volunteering can have real physical and mental health benefits.
The British Trust for Conservation Volunteers is among the speakers - it has
formed links with Glasgow mental health services to run a successful
allotments project with asylum seeking men experiencing depression.
Join us on 8 December if you would like to explore this area further. See ad
below and attached flyer.
Best wishes,
Ruth Wilson

The Volunteering and Asylum Project is running three seminars at NCVO, near
Kings Cross, to look at ways of encouraging volunteering by refugees and
asylum seekers in mainstream organisations. The seminars are for managers,
volunteer co-ordinators, policy makers, funders, health professionals and
others. Each seminar focuses on a different area of volunteering:
environment, education and health.
