> Does anyone know please where the following collieries would have been?

> Bailey Hill Colliery Ltd (operated 1890)
> Ossett Flocton Coal Co.Ltd (operated 1878)
> Rotherham, Masbro', and Holmes Coal Co.Ltd (operated 1856)
I think Flockton is a small village a mile or so south of Caphouse (Mining
Museum). I would guess the reference here is to a seam called Flockton.
Masborough (or Masbro') and Holmes are adjacent areas of Rotherham.
"Rotherham Masborough" station was on the old Midland line (replaced about
10 or 15 years ago) very close to the Football ground. I think the colliery
was near the river Don (or Navigation) just upstream of Rotherham and it may
be listed in the AIA guide to South Yorkshire (regret I am currently
separated from my copy).
