Call for Papers
Mining History Association Annual Meeting
June 16-19, 2005 --- Scranton, Pennsylvania
The Mining History Association invites proposals for papers to be presented
at its 2005 meeting. Papers may be on any topic or geographic area
associated with mining history. Presenters will have 20 minutes to make
their presentations; proposals for individual papers, or sessions featuring
three papers, are encouraged.
The meeting's venue - Scranton - is in the heart of Pennsylvania's
anthracite coal mining region and near historic metals-mining locales in
Pennsylvania and adjacent states. Attendees will meet mining historians
from all regions of the United States and some foreign countries.
Proposals must include the name and mailing/e-mail address of presenter,
title of paper, abstract of paper (not to exceed one page). Proposals must
be submitted by November 30, 2004 to Richard Francaviglia, Program Chair,
The University of Texas at Arlington, The Center of Greater Southwestern
Studies and the History of Cartography, Box 19497, Arlington, Texas 76019.
Presenters will be invited to submit their papers for consideration in the
Mining History Journal which is published annually. Please note, speakers
must register for the conference in order to give their presentations.
