Yes, I agree wholeheartedly and I am pleased to see that Mike has
apparently regained his sense of composure, even if he still thinks the
programme to be 'crap'. Although I think I am correct in saying that
the programme's participants are true professionals in their own right,
not perhaps though experienced in the arcane world of
mining-archaeology.
I was impressed with Tim & Simon's contribution which managed, in my
humble opinion, to illuminate the present situation and progress at the
Parys-Mona complex without giving the impression of being yet another
expression of self-interest by professionals, (of most persuasions),
ever ready to 'see off' anyone not in their 'club'- something that I
think plagued the ever popular Time Team series, I wont even mention
the work of metal 'detectorists' here for fear of releasing an
outpouring of bile from the more conservative echelons of archaeology.
I have been waiting all day for another onslaught; last night's C4
programme on the subject of pagan magic managed to work in a visit to
the Great Orme show mine. Paganism-magic and Bronze Age mining- a real
recipe if ever I saw one for one or more of the more staid
professionals to reach for their bottle of green ink or whatever the
internet equivalent is!
