website after posting my question. States Pollington Colly closed in 1920s
'cos of flooding. Seems to me that, even if the abandonments didn't
directly include Pollington, withdrawal of pumping from vast area of Deep
Soft immediately to N thereof in 1920 could well have made task of coping
with water impossible shortly thereafter.

>Looking in the Catalogue of Plans of Abandoned Mines dated 1929,
Abandonment Plan 7068 relates to abandonment of the Deep Soft Coal under
Codnor and Loscoe, Derbyshire and Brinsley and selston, Nottinghamshire
on the 30th April 1920. They may have worked another seam until after
1929, but in view of the non-appearance of the Colliery in the 1923 Year
Book, I would assume that this was the closure date.<
