Dear List members,
NPHT is drafting a plan which will propose the conservation of the
surface features at Middlecleugh Level on our site at Nenthead in
Cumbria. Middlecleugh Level is part of a scheduled ancient monument and
the mine itself was almost certainly started before 1790. The plan will
necessarily include archaeological investigation of the site,
conservation of the features on the site and some measures to control
the erosion of the mine dump.
We would like to obtain copies of any photographs of the site that were
taken before 1970.
I am hoping that list members might be able to help.
