The lower level is cemented by breeze blocks, could have been a water supply
at some time? but not by the present water board, they mark them too well
with steel bolted gates (as seen in Heben Gill or Arkengarthdale). My only
interest is its conection with the two higher levels, part of its spoil heap
has been removed to be used on the tracks to the shooting butts over in
Apedale. The spoil heap is very wet with iron stains in it. This might be
the reason why it was walled up prevent contamination to the fresh water
supply.
