Stuart Hall was until recently Professor of Sociology at the Open
University and is now Emeritus Professor in the Media and
Communications Department at Goldsmiths College. He is a founder editor
of Soundings and has written extensively on cultural studies, new
ethnicities and politics.
David Marquand was until recently Professor of History at Oxford
University. He is author of The Progressive Dilemma, The Unprincipled
Society, The New Reckoning and, most recently, The Decline of the
Public: The Hollowing out of Citizenship.
