First of all, many thanks to all those who responded to my posting on
April 2nd regarding the problems that two members were having accessing
the PDF version of eLucidate.
I received 33 responses of which 4 had problems of some sort. I have
summarised the "no problems" below by main version number of Acrobat
Reader or Acrobat. For the 4 "Problems" I have given the full details in
the hope that someone out there might be able to suggest what is causing
the difficulties. There doesn't seem to be any consistent pattern and we
are stumped :-(((
Many thanks for all your help.
No Problems
-----------
Reader Version 4 running under NT - 3
Reader Version 5 running under 2000, NT, XP - 11
Reader Version 6 running under 2000, XP - 10
Acrobat Professional 6 - 2
Acrobat Standard 6 - 3
Problems
--------
1. I have Adobe Reader ver. 6.0.0 (19/5/03) running on Windows XP. The
only slight 'problem' I had was that my browser wasn't set to allow
Active X, once I'd enabled it for that it was fine.
2. I cannot download the latest issue of eLucidate. Save target as.. is
greyed out when I right click on the pdf. I am using Win 2000
Professional, IE6 and Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional.
3. I'm running Adobe Acrobat 4.0. I have a more up to date Reader, but
since I have the full thing on this PC, activating a .pdf file always
defaults to Acrobat itself. OS is Windows 2000. Downloaded file appears
with overlapping text, where the letters making up a word partially
overlie adjacent letters. Headings and bold text are frequently affected
and the problem crops up at the start of normal lines and sometimes in
the middle of normal lines apparently at random. The same fault seems to
be on most, possible all, of the pages.
4. I'm using Acrobat Reader (version 6.0.1) with Windows 2000, and when
I download the pdf file I just get a completely blank document.
