Hi,
Have finally got round to assembling a league table of your responses
to my 'online subscriptions' query. Apologies for the delay. Here it
is.

We have still to decide whether we'll move away from 'online resources'
as our name of choice. We're going to suggest 5 possibilities and have a
vote on it amongst LRC staff.
I think all the existing options are a bit poor and don't really
encourage your average FE user to investigate further. ('Electronic'
sounds like 'electronics', 'database' sounds like Excel, 'online' sounds
so '90s...). I like 'e-resources' but it's a mouthful ("and here are our
e-resources...").
Maybe it doesn't really matter. User education, I guess. And balloons.

Hello,
I'd be quite interested to know what people's collections of online
subscriptions (Infotrac etc) are called. We currently call ours
'Online
Resources', but one astute member of staff has pointed out that this
is
completely meaningless to the average punter, or could-be-punter.
(Much
like 'LRC'...) It would be nice to have a better name for them.
I will summarize your hasty and brief responses for the list. :)
Please state if you're FE or HE or whatever.
Thanks,
Simon
