Hi
It depends on authentication support within systems you are using... e.g. Does your LMS use a standard authentication system such as LDAP and a standard directory service, such as Active Direcoty or NDS?
To configure standard authentication across user systems, try finding out from your technical dpeartment how users are authenticated on your network, then find out what authentication methods are supported in individual systems (e.g. LMS, e-learning system etc.)
Compatibility with network authentication is an important consideration for purchasing third party systems (e.g. if a LMS requires NDS for user records, but you don't have a Netware server, this may be a problem..)
I beleive authentication to Athens may be acheived using IP recognition, which would provide seamless access within your institution.
Hope these pointers help.
