The Wellcome Trust, the UK’s leading biomedical research charity, has
appointed Frances Norton as the new Head of the Wellcome Library. Mrs
Norton, who is currently Head of Public Service Strategy at Leeds
University Library, will take up her appointment on 5 July.
The Wellcome Library is the world's greatest collections of books,
manuscripts, pictures and films relating to the meaning and history of
medicine, from the earliest times to the present day.
Clare Matterson, Director of Medicine, Society and History at the Wellcome
Trust said:
“I’m delighted that Frances is joining us. She has a wealth of experience
from one of the UK’s largest and most prestigious research libraries. She
will play a key role in building and maintaining the Wellcome Library as it
enters exciting new times of development and refurbishment.”
Frances Norton added:

marvellous collections. I’m looking forward to what promises to be an
