***** Apologies for cross posting *****
Dear All,
This message is aimed at those of you who use some form of screen
recording software, eg. Camtasia, either personally, or within your
institution. (For info, screen recording software allows you to record
screen activity, including key strokes and mouse movements, to create
customised online tutorials).
If you do, would you mind answering the following questions? Please
reply directly to me - I will summarise for the lists.
1. How do you use the recordings? Eg. in a classroom environment
(in place of a live demonstration) ; as an online tutorial for a
particular database/resource ; recording on demand (eg. to answer a
query from a distance learning student) ; any other?
2. What screen resolution do you use?
3. What frame rate per second do you use (ie. how many screens do
you capture per second)?
4. Do you make any special provisions for off-campus use, where
users may be viewing via a low-spec pc?
5. Who creates the videos? The relevant librarian / subject
specialist or a technical / systems person?
6. Have you had any training in using the software? If so, what
sort - external training (from the software provider) ; internal
training ; completely self-taught?
7. Do you use audio recordings / added effects to enhance your
videos?
8. What feedback have you had from your users about these videos?
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Angela
