COPYRIGHT: KEEPING LEGAL
3 March 2005, London (half day - afternoon)
This half-day workshop is intended to help participants determine whether their copying has the necessary authorization, whether by statute, permission, licence or contract.
It will consider what constitutes copyright infringement and what are its consequences. It will also outline what might be thought to be low, medium and high risk activities and what can be done to minimise those risks.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
By the end of the workshop participants will have a good understanding of the risks involved in copying material and will have a better idea of what they need to do in order to stay within the law.
Participants will be given a number of practical tips and suggestions of steps that they can take to demonstrate that they uphold the moral and legal rights of the creators and distributors of intellectual property whilst also defending the legitimate needs and interests of their information users.
WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM ATTENDING?
Anyone who needs to ensure that their information service is copyright compliant. The workshop is aimed at those who already have a good basic understanding of current copyright law.
WORKSHOP LEADER: PAUL PEDLEY
