Stumbled across a need to use JSTOR, about which I didn't know very much;
Discovered that KU, here, doesn't subscribe, though haven't tracked out yet
the policy principle.. That might follow;
Had a look at the bit of the site I could get into;
And now I have to work out how to engineer access!
But while doing this, it seems to me an infopolecon case.
Infopolecon was a search term I created a while ago, to see how it
travelled, for an earlish JISC activity;
It might be predictable that in the not too long time distance, publishers
will no longer produce paper;
When I go into an InfoM25 site I have access to paper journals but not to
electronic ones;
Once the paper ones don't exist any more, I don't have access to anything;
Open access models don't deal with this, indeed perhaps even accelerate the
process;
The future will prioritise for RAE type purposes the journals within JSTOR
Those who don't have access will be excluded and social participation will
move backwards rather than forwards
This is not in John world a good thing, therefore we have to stop it
happening. Nothing new here but where are the allies?
