Assistant Librarian - 2 year fixed term contract
Academic Related Grade 2: £22,507 - £29,128 p.a.
We are looking for an experienced archivist to work on a joint project,
Digital Archival Exemplars for Private Papers, with the University of
Manchester, funded by JISC, to research and establish best-practice for
establishing long-term access to private papers in digital form. Duties
include identifying archives to be catalogued and digitised; investigation
of collaborative systems; establishing methods for the maintenance of the
archives after the completion of the project; creation and maintenance of
the project website; and supervision of a software engineer and part time
archivist at the University of Manchester. The ideal candidate will hold an
honours degree and postgraduate archive qualification; experience of
working with digital archives and cataloguing modern papers; knowledge of
EAD and ISAD(G); experience of working in a large academic library;
experience of creating and maintaining web pages; and have experience of
supervising staff. The post is available immediately.
