Programme:
From 1.30pm. Coffee, tea and biscuits for visitors.

Resources, NTU.

Administration, LLR, NTU.
4 pm. Close.
Self service lending and return services have become increasingly
familiar in academic libraries over the last few years. They have
traditionally used barcode technology, which is now considered to be
cumbersome and time consuming. Following a visit to Singapore, LLR staff
recommended to the University that the way forward was to employ a
cutting-edge wireless technology using RFID (Radio Frequency
Identifier).
NTU is the first UK academic institution to use this state of the
art system. Our requirements included flexibility of service and a
faster and more convenient service for readers. Books no longer have to
be checked at exit points, a constant source of complaints over the
years, and books can be renewed at the self service stations without
their physical presence. RFID technology will also be used to manage
stock taking processes.
Please email me to book a place at this FREE
event, numbers are limited and priority will be given to UC&R members of
CILIP.
