The TUC is Britain’s largest voluntary organisation, with 71 member unions
representing 6.7 million working people from all walks of life. We campaign
on concerns in the world of work. We negotiate in Europe and build links
with most political parties, business and the community. We are now looking
to appoint to the following posts:
MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT (MSAD)
The Management Services and Administration Department provides a range of
support functions to the TUC, including Personnel and Training, Finance,
Facilities Management, Information Services, Conferencing, Publications,
Print and Despatch.

Salary £42,055 rising incrementally to £43,626 pa inc LW
Based at Congress House, London WC1B
As a high profile campaigning organisation the TUC and its affiliated
unions depend on having access to a range of information relating to the
world of work. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking the
lead in developing a pro-active service and for providing access to a wide
range of relevant information resources to meet the needs of users.
As well as having at least 2 years’ experience of providing technological
solutions and services in a library/information service setting at a senior
level, the successful candidate will also need:
· A professional library/information qualification or demonstrable skills
and experience to achieve this qualification
· Experience of managing staff
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to deal with
a wide and varied group of service users
· Highly developed IT skills, including familiarity with Web based
technology, Windows operating systems and local area networks
· Sound knowledge and understanding of a range of electronic information
systems and their uses
· Awareness of information sources in areas of employment, social policy
and government statistics nationally and internationally
