When is a /Newsletter /not a newsletter?
For some time we have felt rather uncomfortable with “/SCONUL
Newsletter/” as a name for the SCONUL journal. This publication does not
fulfil the usual criteria of a “newsletter”: it is not frequent (coming
out three times a year) and it is not flimsy (regularly exceeding 100
pages per issue).
Consequently, we have pondered various alternative names for our journal.
We are now proud to announce that the /SCONUL Newsletter/ will be known
as /SCONUL/ /Focus/. Congratulations to Christopher Cipkin for this
suggestion.
The new issue is out now in paper format (for members of SCONUL) and on
the Web for all to peruse via www.sconul.ac.uk
The current issue (erm…) focuses on marketing and gives an overview of
some of the marketing programmes currently being employed in SCONUL
libraries. All this plus a whole host of other articles and news on
developments in the academic and national libraries sector.
Enjoy!
