How is this for a challenge, or should I say opportunity! One of our
libraries is to relocate into a new hospital over the next couple of years.
The space we have been allocated is much smaller than our present library,
the main room is shaped like a cheese portion - with a huge window across
the back wall - two rooms with opening doors on each side and a shutter at
the front to close it off from a staff central seated area. Hence there
will be very little wall space for shelving. It has been suggested to us
that we get some form of portable shelving which will enable us to open up
in the mornings and wheel our stock out into the public area - no, I am not
joking, but I am smiling! I am currently keeping an open mind and pursuing
all avenues - hence my question for today. Has anyone out there purchased
any form of moveable display shelving that is sturdy, but not heavy, and
can be manoeuvred safely by one member of staff? Has anyone else set up a
library that resembles a newsagents unit at the airport? I omitted to say
that the area the library will be sited in is built on the round - so
anyone know of any bendy display boards...Any help gratefully received.
Please reply off list. If nothing else, I hope this has cheered you up on a
fairly grey Monday.
Best wishes
