COPAC Update: New Map search, New records & Catalogue reloads
(with apologies for cross-posting)
Map Search Interface
On 6th January we carried out an upgrade to COPAC. This introduced the
new Map search interface that has been on trial for some time in the
experimental COPAC V3 service. The map search allows you to restrict
your search just to cartographic items such as maps, nautical charts,
atlases, some plans and topographical drawings. The map search
includes new search options, in the form of a place name search and
both exact and fuzzy map scale searching. If you try the Map search
please send us any comments you may have on the interface.
Quick UCL reload
We have carried out a 'quick' reload of the catalogue of UCL
(University College London). This has enabled us to make an up-to-date
version of the UCL catalogue available on COPAC to act as a back-up
whilst the UCL library system is upgraded and is unavailable for a
short period. When other COPAC reloads are complete the UCL catalogue
will be reloaded again. This time it will undergo full record
de-duplication and merger with the other COPAC records, a procedure
that does not take place in a quick reload.
Glasgow reload
We have reloaded of the University of Glasgow catalogue. Periodic
catalogue reloads are carried out to respond to major local system
changes, often including record upgrades.
Load of Reading Pamphlets records
We have loaded c. 3,300 records from the University of Reading
Library. These records were created as part of an RSLP project, the
19th century pamphlets project, concerned with improving access to
19th Century Pamphlet Collections (1801-1914). Most of the other
project members were CURL member libraries whose records are
incorporated into the COPAC database. Adding the pamphlet records from
Reading means all the records created for this project are accessible
through COPAC. Records created as part of some other RSLP projects
will be loaded into COPAC in the near future.
If you have any questions about these developments, or about the COPAC
service in general, get in touch with the Helpdesk at:
