A bit off-topic: the entire UI can be repackaged and installed in a
non-privileged user's home directory. As a proof of concept, you might want
to have a look at:
http://www.egrid.it/sw/ui/egrid-ready-ui/
The .tar.gz is configured for EGRID, so it will need some tweaking for
LCG-2 (config files + CA root certificates + other VOs), but nonetheless
UI installation and relocation *can* be done.
