outbreak of mumps in our patch too
Policy is MMR vaccine is offered to unimmunised contacts - even adults - (is this the only commercially available form mumps vaccine? )
thought to confer some protection if given within 5 days of the contact.
I had mumps as an adult (in my first GP job) not nice - i think it went to my brain i had headache photophobia nausea for a week felt i was dying. didnt go deaf
medical students attached to our practice are debating whetehr to seek MMR immunisation before contact with a child patient.
If this were you, would you get MMR immunisation yourself ?
