Dear gp-uk your thoughts please.
The guys in our practice that go to the MMS collaborative ( to do with
medicines) want us to type in the indication for each prescription

Dear Mary
Please move out of the dark ages into at least the 20th century!
The definitive answer not thoughts is:
If you were using a Torex or InPractice system and observing 'problem
orientation' rules none of this would be necessary.
A problem heading in 'problem orientation' allows for the attachment/linkage
of all other appropriate items relating to each problem including medication
but also other symptoms, signs, tests, results, reports, referrals,
diagnoses (problem headers do not have to be diseases), operations, other
therapies, administration etc. etc.
Typing (what free text????) in indications puts us back 18 years(we started
using PO in Abies, then Meditel, (since Torex) system 4, then 5 in 1986.
