We spent first night of honeymoon at The Cavendish Hotel, in the grounds of
Chatsworth Park, although it was 16 years ago now. Went back five years or
so later and it was just as good.
Fantastic place, which we chose because of its write up in Arthur Eperon's
"The British Selection", a guide to the best British hotels.
The following three days were spent at Middlethorpe Hall, in York itself.
(Not sure if this is too far from where you want to be). Very grand 1699
country house. Terrific grounds, rooms and dining room.
