I spent first night of wedded bliss there some 12 years ago and I saw a
friend at New Year who had been there for a meal recently. Excellent on
both counts. Very grand with suberb food and very close to Chatsworth
for a wander round the grounds if you like that sort of thing

Subject: dirty weekend in Derbyshire - advice please
I'm planning on taking Mrs DR for a surprise weekend on our silver
anniversary later this month.
Distance is limited as we need to get there in time for dinner after she
finishes work on the Friday. So two hours from Boroughbridge (where she
is likely to be being interviewed for a promotion that afternoon) is the
limit.
The Yorkshire dales are out as we used to live there and she gets the
weepies every time we go back. Yorkshire moors are also out because we
know it too well and it is part of her work patch.
So am looking at the Derbyshire dales which neither of us know much. An
out of date copy of the Good Food Guide and the AA web site have turned
up Fischler's Baslow Hall. Does anyone know it? And if so would you
recommend it for a special weekend?
