Yeah difficult one that. It depends to some degree on intentions and good
will. In PEI the Med Soc negotiated a good FFS increase about two years
back. THe government wanted a salaried option on offer so they negotiated
for that too and lo! The salaried deal is actually quite a good one and
comes with two major advantages over FFS---first it pays more for same work
and second it stops you getting annoyed on quiet days.
The bean counters seem to think it will allow better prediction of costs.
Which is horseshit, as thee and me knows since average billing is well known
and since the average FP is unlikely to bill massive amounts more year on
year.
But then as Rebecca put it, at least at the end of a real busy day you
_know_ the bank account just got fatter.
I loved FFS in PEI when I went there and was a bit pissed off when the guys
I work with went salaried (they got various other benefits out of that)
because I had to work the same way. But I actually find it quite OK.
