It seems obvious to me that if you want monitoring of controlled drug
_prescribing_ close to the scene, then the present requirement to handwrite
them is not a help.
Monitoring would rely upon a connection that goes from the GP to the pharmacy
to Newcastle to the PCT and takes up to several weeks to complete.
I don't think it is properly part of QMAS, but extracting the quantities of
CDs prescribed into the practice population from the prescription
table/global in a GP system seems pretty easy, as does the subsequent
computation of the data.
WHat statistical tests are appropriate and their power is another matter.
