I concur - I voted against the administrative nightmare that was to be the
new contract. Our leaders said it was going to get rid of the complexity of
the red book - they lied. Anyone with half a mind could see that the Quality
framework would create an administrative nightmare of a complexity way
beyond the red book. Our leaders could see this, and lied.
I am seeing local practices rushing to put patients on treatments without
proper pretreatment blood tests or proper assessment of previous history.
Patient care doesn't come into it - all that matters is getting all the
Quality Points and getting more money. Patients have been reduced to units
that generate income - who cares about *managing* them in a holistic
fashion.
IMHO the damage done to patients (patients will die as a result of what I
have indicated above) should lead to the creators of the New Contract being
reported to the GMC and being struck off.
This new contract will IMHO destroy British Family Practice for ever, unless
we come to our senses and vote off all the GMC all those who installed it,
and get some sensible people voted in who will call a halt to the
administrative madeness that is about money alone.

Lets be really cyical about this. "Quite frankly my dear who cares". If the
great and good on this list are unsure, then there is enough uncertainty to
have great fun running rings around some of our less intellectually endowed
collegues who have been appointed as medical advisors/assessor to the QOAF
team. Just have some fun. This new contract is about box ticking not care.
So tick the boxes. DONT do fraud and only tick what you can justify.
