Outlook 2003 in corporate mode certainly does allow IMAP alongside
Exchange and POP.

We use Outlook in Corporate mode as that was how it was set up to log on
to a remote Exchange Server administered on behalf of our PCT. This
mode also enabled us to continue to use Microsoft Mail for our internal
surgery communications. Corporate mode, however, doesn't support IMAP
mail. Internet mode, which does, doesn't support Microsoft Mail!
I suppose I may have to look into running an email server of some sort
inside the practice, to replace Microsoft Mail - any suggestions? We
have now got a couple of spare servers. Time we had a proper intranet
webserver too, I suspect.
I have now managed to connect to my nhs.net email address using POP but
this, of course, doesn't have the advantages of IMAP which I can use at
home via Thunderbird.

Got this one sussed now - have to use my nhs.net ID & password for SMTP
authentication for both nhs.net AND doctors.org.uk email via
smtp1.nhs.net.
