Getting a patient to take a drug can be the hardest thing to do. Some may
not want to, many just forget.

We are trying to help change that, and would ask for the assistance of
members of this list.

My company supplies text message and (and for the elderly) landline
reminders to take medication, to renew prescriptions or to attend
appointments.  For medication, this can be a simple once a day reminder, a
periodic reminder (eg for women on a 21 day pill), or a series of reminders
through the day which gives different instructions at different times.

The cost (if a reminder is set up by a consumer) is charged to a mobile
phone bill, or for doctors and pharmacists using our web based system, is
charged monthly.  Under certain conditions we offer the first seven
reminders free.

We all know the costs to the NHS of people not complying with their
medication regime, or forgetting appointments.

We are trying to get details of our service into GPs, Family Planning
Clinics and Pharmacies, mainly by means of posters, flyers, and for
pharmacists and doctors, details of how to set up an account.

To date we have successfully worked with a number of PCT's to get flyers
into Family Planning Clinics.

We can also arrange for appointment reminders to be given either by mobil or
as a message sent to a BT landline, but how this is set up depends very much
on the appointment booking system in place already.

This is the 'retail' site, and explains how someone off the street would set
up a reminder.

Just to demonstrate how easy it can be, if you were to text 'PILL TRIAL' to
88222, you will get a reminder every morning - this is free for a week, so
text 'PILL STOP' to 88222 to get out before the end of the week!

There is also a 'wholesale' site that enables anyone who has an account
(doctor/pharmacist say) to set up reminders for patients, and to have the
patient reminded in X number of days to renew the prescription. The reminder
setter also gets an email when the reminders themselves need to be renewed,
or whether they have been automatically renewed.

The 'wholesale' price is of course at a discount to the price charged
generally to consumers.
