Many thanks to all, AKM, FW and especially ML who've brought the evidence
to light.
What seems to emerge is that the GMC action is:
Not about protecting the public from a bad doctor
Not about protecting the reputation of the profession
Not even about protecting the reputation of the GMC
but about some of the most powerful individuals in the GMC, their
relationship with the government, power and perhaps the honours system.
I wonder if Finlay Scott, the chief executive who has been present through
a period of massive failure by the GMC, and Sir Graeme Catto will end up
with highly rewarded other jobs with government connections and perhaps the
House of Lords OR unemployment and the house of shame. Guesses on a postcard.
This may of course be a personal and professional suicide note and others
may be well advised not to reply.
Julian
(My cynicism might of course be reviewed if the CRHE finds in favor of the
first committee and that finding leads to the resignation of some of those
with overt or covert responsibility for this referral)
