Just for accuracy's sake, the quote is verbatim from the BBC News story
on 31/8/04 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/3613832.stm
Which of course is slanted to grab attention and therefore fundamentally
lacking in objectivity, balance and thoroughness. And that is BBC
journalism for you.
I think I mentioned way back that at a DoH conference hosted by John
Humphrys, he said jokingly that the role of the journalist is to take a
story, simplify and then exaggerate it. And that is exactly what they
do.
