I was invited to join the Shadow Health IT group to help formulate the
Conservatives strategy nearly 2 years ago. The report took about 4
months and the main thrust was to setup, encourgare and promote an open
source core (can't remember the licence) with primarily open source
applications using it. The idea was to make the UK health service a
world leader in promoting open source in healthcare, and run something
akin to sourceforge for helathcare software. It was received well by
Liam and his team as fitted with their plans for the NHS. But... then he
moved on and was replaced (Andrew Lansley is now the Shadow Health
Minister) and I do not know where the report or they (the Conservatives)
stand.
