Paul,
I think much of what you say is not unusual, indeed virtually the norm -
though I have heard of people having unhappy appraisals, badly done and
sometimes ill prepared on all sides.
The only point I'd make is that if what you do in addition to core general
practice is clinical coding etc, then that is what you should be appraised
on. Consider it in the same vein as a GPwSI.
All the same principles apply, and sadly all the same bureaucracy.
