with the minimum amount most trusts are paying under the new contract there
are plenty of hours left in the week for consultants to do this kind of
thing in their free time these days

Interesting, I hope there is a mechanism to ensure this is paid to the trust
and not to the consultant (unless of course they have taken annual leave).
