Hi Adrian,
All decent suggestions -it is the setup for 3000 potential clinets that I do
not want to have to deal with.
In due course, as MAPI clients e.g. Outlook are set up for NHSmail (which I
understand is part of phase II) ,the problem will go away as we can route
our outgoing mail through MAPI quite happily. It is just annoying (and
incomprehensible to end-users) that something that worked smoothly is now
broken in the name of progress!! I was hoping to find a quick-and-dirty
solution and I'll follow up John Cleggs suggewsted contacts but I am
beginning to sense problems.
The outbound relay service I was hoping to use allows ports 2525 and 10025 -
I don't suppose I'd get way with using one of those?
No, thought not :-((

sftp?
scp?
rsync?
web service?
smtp over ssh to a distant server, one for the lot.
Presumably there would be people who'd sell a component for any of those, if
having it free won't do.
