I suspect there are many issues and the water is muddy.
If a patient had seen a GP colleague OOH or as a TR what would the reaction be?
As above would seem entirely reasonable - see the patient, but have regard
to the opinions offered.
However equally if something is required within the course of private
treatment then the NHS is not obliged to fund it - so if a consultant sees
a patient, decides to fit a Mirena coil, and asks the patient to get an NHS
Px for it we say "no".
If a consultant seeing a patient privately makes some sensible suggestions
for GP level investigations we would usually be happy to do this - but I
guess this is arguable.
