I enclose copies of our local combined Trusts asthma and copd guidelines and
also our own draft practice guidelines which we came up with before the
former. I think the Trust guidelines are well outside the BTS/NICE ones and
ours pretty much in line. Your comments on both would be most welome.
In the new culture, if we obeyed guidelines which are well outside the
nationally accepted ones and a disaster happened, who takes the can? OK even
NICE/BTS says guidelines are simply that, but they are accepted as
authoritive and the lawyers/pressure groups are quoting them +++.
