We are now just two weeks away from the British Computer Society's Spring
Conference at Heythrop Park Oxfordshire.
The remaining places are selling fast and if you are planning to attend you
need to book without further delay. You will find the current programme and
online booking at www.phcsg.org
Speakers Include:
Richard Granger - NHS Director General for IT. Richard delivered and
excellent and very candid presentation last year and we expect him to be
equally interesting this year.
Dr Laurence Buckman - One of the BMA GP Committee negotiators on the New GMS
Contract will be trying to answer the question "Is IT the Solution or the
Problem" [for the new GMS Contract]
Mark Outhwaite form the NHS Modernisation Agency will be talking about
delivering benefits to patients and staff from the National IT Programme and
will be able to tell us about the important ongoing role for the MA function
as it is reconfigured over coming months.
We have a number of speakers working at the grass roots in Primary Care and
in the National Programme who will be able to provide practical advice based
on personal experience and an interactive panel session with a range of
speakers who will be able to provide a wide perspective and answer many
questions.
To give another perspective we have a number of academic speakers who will
be able to provide an insight in to future developments and how they might
effect primary care covering subjects such as Genetics (UK Biobank) and GRID
(The Internet on Steroids).
To ensure that we don't just have a narrow English NPfIT prospective we have
speakers from the other home countries and overseas.
For the first time we have a specific pharmacy stream that we hope will be
of interest to both community pharmacists and other delegates interested in
the broadening role of pharmacy and the new pharmacy contract. We have
speaker on the Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions, The new National
Drug and Devices Database and the New Pharmacy Contract.
Finally, the event offers excellent networking opportunities with a number
of Exhibitors including the major systems suppliers and many niche companies
with products of particular interest to primary care.
