Typically in a table you will find up to four dates
Presentation.Date 1997 Show this in the date column
Effective.Date 19970401 This is when it happened
Lock.Date 19991215 This is when the record was (last) closed
Entry.Date 19970415 This is when the (letter arrived) entry was made
They may have names that occurred to the programmer on the spur of the moment
and are quite different from table to table, and from system to system.
Most of them are usually very similar for any item, except when old stuff is
being put on, or old stuff is being corrected from h/o Migraine to Migraine,
for instance (or from Asthma to h/o Asthma which is more useful, no?)
How hard is it for someone to pick the wrong one when they write a third party
search tool?
Now, all you need to do is to look at the _source code_ of the software
involved, and you can show where it is wrong.
If it goes to (small claims) Court, then the software soruce code will have to
be divulged to you, of course, so I suggest just asking. The one you are
suffering from is in Delphi I think, so Ian McNicoll will be able to patch it
for you.
